PET BLESSING IN HONOR OF ST FRANCIS On Sunday, October 6 at 12:00 noon on the Church lawn St. Francis cared for the poor and sick, he preached sermons to animals, and praised all creatures as brothers and sisters under God. St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals and ecology , was born in Italy around 1181 or 1182. Each day our pets bless us with unconditional love and joy. Every year on the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, many people of faith around the world host events where animals are blessed. This year our Church will sponsor a blessing of pets on Sunday after masses. Why a pet blessing? It’s an opportunity to celebrate God’s compassion and concern for all creatures...It’s an occasion to meet neighbors and enjoy easy conversation about a common interest – pets we love. Any pet that is safe to bring is welcome. Please get the word around and invite friends and neighbors to bring their pets along.
